Family Picnic and sausage sizzle - TONIGHT 5.00pm-7.00pm
Last Day of Term 1- Early Finish 8th April at 1.00pm
Term 2 Commences Tuesday 26th April
Dear Parents,
As we come to the end of what has been a very long and at times, challenging first term, I would like to say thank you to all of our staff, students and parents for all of your hard work this term. It has taken some getting used to to be back to full time face-to-face teaching and learning.
We have also had to be flexible and patient in the opening up of our school to maintain the safety of our community. I thank all of our families for supporting the school in this process. Tonight I look forward to seeing you all on the green for our end of term family picnic and BBQ.
This week we have been preparing for Holy Week and Easter. The students of Prep retold the story of Palm Sunday on Monday and today at 2.45pm, our middles students will retell the story of Holy Thursday and the Last Supper.
Tomorrow at 12.30pm before finishing of the term at 1.00pm, the Senior students will retell the story of the Good Friday and the crucifixion of Jesus. We will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus when we return to school on Tuesday 26th April.
Tomorrow your child will be coming home with another set of Rapid Antigen Tests. The Victorian Government has decided to continue to provide free rapid test kits to families through schools and early childhood settings for the start of term 2, with further deliveries rolling out this week.
While Victoria’s surveillance testing system remains voluntary, we want parents to be confident in sending their kids to school, and we know testing can help.
To support families who choose to undertake voluntary surveillance testing, 16 million RATs will be distributed from this week for students, staff and children across the education system to use for at least the first four weeks of Term 2.
I wish everyone a very Happy Easter and a lovely and restful holiday. Please stay safe in all that you do over the holidays and we look forward to seeing you all on the first day back of Term 2 on the 26th April.
Regards,
Andrea Richards
Principal

End of the Earth by Callum S
Have you ever thought the world is going to end? Well that nearly happened 300 years ago Bobby Banana tried to destroy earth.
“ Finally the time has come. “ Bobby muttered under his breath. As he lifted his hand to shoot,a ship appeared.” How did he find me here in the centre of the earth” Bobby thought. It was Man a young, small, bald and smart human. Man will plead for Bobby not to destroy the most populated planet in the universe. But first Man had to make Bobby flea the planet. Man will destroy Bobby’s ship if required.
He would do anything to save his planet.
There was all out war. One would shoot at the other then they would have to dodge and shoot back. Humans would see this “This is taking a long time” humans would say. This would go for hours until….. Bobby got confident. “Bye bye” Bobby bellowed as he went towards Man’s ship. This gave Man an opening to go on Bobby’s ship. Man grabbed his magic eraser and erased Bobby’s mind.
Man made Bobby forget he was evil. Man made Bobby only have anger issues. 2 years later “ MR. Banana you no longer have anger issues”, the mental therapist said. “Finally I am normal “ Bobby yelled.

The End
My Spaceman by Valentina F
“BOOM”the gate exploded a cool breeze flushed my face from the strong wind, the world was big and blue the sun bright and yellow. Was I dreaming?. “Oh hi there” im mars you may be thinking what do mean?” “Well I live on the moon” and “I’ve always wanted to see earth but if my parents found out that I broke the gate
I Would be dead meat”. But really im just a ordinary 17 year old boy with a ordinary life except that I live on the moon. Well lets start from here “BOOM”the gate exploded a cool breeze flushed my face from the strong wind, the world was big and blue the sun bright and yellow. Was I dreaming?. “Oh hi there” im mars you may be thinking what do mean?” “Well I live on the moon” and “I’ve always wanted to see earth but if my parents found out that I broke the gate I Would be dead meat”. But really im just a ordinary 17 year old boy with a ordinary life except that I live on the moon. Well lets start from here she gave me a suspicious look like I was doing something wrong mean I was but you know. ‘BANG” I cut it it was so big and round blue and bright was i dreaming?. OOPS I tripped and got sent down to earth. The coolest breeze hit my body as I closed my eyes and dreamed how amazing earth will be. “BANG” I felt dizzy “EYAW EYAW EYAW” I heard in the background I blacked out. “Beep beep beep” I slowly opened my eyes. I saw a guy with a blue shirt and pants walk up to me. And said “mr you have been attacked my a kangaroo” “A WHAT” I screamed I ran out the room and down the stairs then out the door. I ran and ran until I bumped into a girl she was gorgeous short, brown hair, green eyes she looked just like a dream. “A..are you ok” she said. I looked at her and nodded and said “yes”. She told me her name was Mia and that I was in Australia and she said I could live with her for a while until I get used to living here. Years past me and mia became close and closer until one day. It was a normal Tuesday afternoon. I just came back from work and i saw mia sitting on the couch reading a note with tears in her eye’s. I went and sat next to her finding out why she was crying the note said “dear miss Mia you have cancer and only five days left to live im very sorry Dr. Rock”.I looked at her and hugged her and told her “I will not spend a second without you”. Every day until her last breath I did all i could to spend time with her. But the day came like a flash and I knew it was time to say goodbye. As I drove her to the hospital I thought how scared i was of losing someone I love. As we walked thru the doors her arms wrapped around my arm and her head leaned against me. Being here reminded me of the first day on earth when I met my Mia They put a needle in her arm that put her to sleep. And as she took her last breath she smiled at me and said “ill see you on the other side of the moon my spaceman”.
Once upon a potato by Abdallah N
One sunny morning at a potato shop I. Mexico 🇲🇽. There was a potato called El potat he wore a sombrero hat and had a big moustache. In the shop El potat felt lonely and had no friends. Every time someone picked him up they put him away. Whenever someone came close it got his hopes up!
But they never bought him .
Finally someone bought him ! A mom and a 2 year old kid put him in the basket and took him home to their pantry and would eat him for dinner! Later his skin turned green and his skin went squishy. When the mom found him she put him in the fridge next to the eggs
El potat was feeling as cold as a ice cube 🧊. He was worried that he would get frostbite 🥶. A few minutes later the mom took him out of the fridge and put him in the kitchen. El potat was blue and shivering 🥶 but slowly he warmed up .
He could hear the baby walking towards him.
The kid chased him everywhere “AAAHHH” shouted El potat while he ran across the house. “HELP” . The mom said “ DINNER “ the baby went away.
El potat remembered they would eat him . So he escaped out the window.
He ran away into the middle of nowhere
He looked for somewhere to live . He walked for hours and hours.
Soon he found a farm and he lived happily ever after because he hid with the other potato’s where nobody would find him and eat him .

That WEIRD cOnDiTiOn by Zoe S
Iza could already hear the comments that she was getting as she walked through the school gate. Everyone thought that she would me a mean girl but she was actually a really nice. She had long brown hair and blue eyes.
But she had a rear condition called ugltoner. If you don’t know what that is it is a condition where when Iza gets called ugly she will get a ugly fetcher added to her but when she get called pretty. She will lose a ugly fetcher
The school was old and rusty and the kids were meaner than an angry dad. When she gets called pretty so many times she looks like a goddess. But gets powers. Theses powers let her shoot ice.
When Iza gets called pretty all the time she will not have to worry about getting called ugly. As Iza walked through the class door she could see the looks she was getting from the bullies.
When Iza gets called pretty all the time she will not have to worry about getting called ugly. As Iza walked through the class door she could see the looks she was getting from the bullies.
But one girl her name was Amy and she was a nice but fearless girl. Amy would scare the bullies of when Iza saw her she said to herself I want that blonde hair and blue eyes. After class Amy sat at the table, Iza was sitting at and said”Hi I am your new friend” “Uhh ok”said Iza.
“I don’t know if you will like me after I tell you I have a rear condition and oh no look at the time I have to go home now bye”. When Iza walked home all she could hear was everyone saying that she was ugly so many times that if she heard one more person she would stay like that forever!…
Iza blocked her ears as tight as she could as soon as she got home she screamed “MUM DAD CALL ME PRETTY NOW!”ok honey” they both yelled Iza called Amy and said. “Call me pretty right now”ok Amy laughed. After 1 hour,All her contacts called her pretty
She looked like a goddess but she needed one more person, she called her grandma 5 times but she sis no answer, she was in the hospital.”Mum, Dad take me to the hospital right now”! “Ok “ she was lying in the bed half awake
Please call me pretty for the last time” Iza wanted to hear her grandma say that she was pretty for the last time “ok” her grandma said she took her last breath and said your pretty darling. And as she said that Iza drank a potion that made her condition go away.
When they got home they had a massive party to celebrate her life and Amy was invited and she asked Iza’s Mum and Dad where Iza was and they both said she was right in front of her Amy looked at Iza and was speechless THE END 😄
The Pea Chronicles by Gilbert M
Episode 1 - Heathrow
Once upon a time there was a Pea who was red. Pea had grown on a farmer’s crop. At first the farmer was shocked to see a pea that could talk and had arms and legs. After a split second, Pea ran right out of the farmers hands and said ‘WOOHOO!’. Then he rolled and rolled and rolled until he came to a stop and found that he had landed right beside a pig! Pea said ‘Arrrrrgh!’. The pig said ‘That’s my breakfast’. Pea just escaped in time. Phew!! But the adventure had only just begun.
Pea rolled into a big hole. Then a boy came by with a big bucket full of water, about to empty it in the hole. ‘Uh-oh’, said Pea. Lucky he could read. His name tag was blurry, but he could still read it. It said ‘Theo Hughes’. Pea had to get out of the hole. First, he got some momentum and then he got out. Phew. He would’ve drowned if he hadn’t done that.
He then rolled ten more miles. He grew older and older and older. He also grew dirtier and dirtier and dirtier. Finally, he reached the airport. He saw some packaging that had a name on it. It said ‘Theo Hughes’. It was the boy who tried to cover Pea in water to drown! ‘Uh-oh. I’m on one of Theo Hughes’ bags’, thought Pea. Theo picked it up and put it in his suitcase. Pea went bing, bounce, bong. The boy named Theo Hughes had forgotten to zip the bag up so Pea went flying right over a dogs nose and he sniffed a little bit. Then the dog noticed Pea and charged right at him. His nametag said ‘Dipper – Theo Hughes’ dog’ but luckily the wind blew Pea into the air. He luckily knew how to land safely, and the dog went ‘splat’ behind him. Then the dog bounced because of the splat and landed right on Theo Hughes’ head. ‘Aaaaaarg!!’ went Theo Hughes, as Dipper scratched his face. It gave Pea time to escape to the bathroom before his flight.
To be continued …
Big Thank You!

Footy Tipping
Well there’s been a change in the guard this week with StacyPM nowhere to be seen anymore and Andrea Moscato rocketing up to first place. Mrs Slatts has snuck into second place with some astute tipping, followed closely by yours truely and Disey hanging in there.
It’s a close competition with the top 30 only being separated by 4 tips. There are some tough games this round. Will Freo’s home ground advantage be enough to get them through against GWS? Will the Saints beat the Hawks? Is the safest tip the Swans? How many questions can I ask? Only time will tell.
Don’t forget to get your tips in early and pay that $20 entry fee ASAP.
See you next term and hopefully from the top of the ladder.

It has been fantastic to get through to the end of Term 1 with no COVID lockdowns. It has been amazing to see how adaptable our young people have been in managing their time and performance around isolation requirements. We have managed to enjoy some great activities with a highlight being the recent Project Based Learning (PBL) parent night. We had many Year 7 parents onsite who enjoyed seeing their children’s collaborative and negotiated work samples. They also had the chance to view the Year 9 work with their children and see the work that they can aspire to achieve.
Our leading mentoring program – NEXUS continues this year for students in Years 11 & 12. We recently conducted an evening where students and mentors were introduced and commenced the program for 2022.
