27th May - Winter Gala Day for Seniors
Friday 10 June - School Closure
Dear Parents,
This Saturday the 21st May, St. Margaret Mary’s hall will be used as a polling venue for the Federal Election. You will be able to enter via Hudsons Road or via the double gates in Arras Street.
The FSG are running a Sausage Sizzle and cake stall to raise funds for our school. Come along with the family to vote at St. Margaret Mary’s and pick up a sausage with onions in bread and a drink for an easy lunch. Follow that up with buying some nice cakes, slices or biscuits for a bit of dessert.
Next Thursday 26th May at 6.30pm in the St. Margaret Mary’s Church, 13 of our Grade 6 students will be making their Confirmation. Confirming our candidates will be Auxiliary Bishop for the Western Region Bishop Martin Ashe.
Bishop Martin will be visiting the candidates next Tuesday to discuss the Sacrament of Confirmation and the process of the ceremony. We wish Maja, Savio Marko, Oliver, Paige, Ruby, Ryan, Finbar, Ethan, Adelaide, Luke. Lily S & Lily T all the very best for this next step in their faith journey.
As you may have noticed Prep enrolments for 2023 are now open. If you have a child (or know of a friend or family member who has a child) who is due to come to school in 2023 and you (they) have not yet picked up an enrolment form from the office, please make sure you do before 31st May when enrolments close.
Last week at our School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting, we elected a new Chairperson due to the former chairperson Mark Oliver (dad to Thomas & Billy) resigning from the SAC. Congratulations to Eliza Liddy (mum of Finn & Leo) for taking on the role of Chairperson and a very big thank you to Mark for all of the work that he did leading the SAC over the last couple of years.
Thank you also to Lauren Oliver (mum to Thomas & Billy) for all of her work and contribution to the FSG. Your time and enthusiasm for our school was always very much appreciated.
We are looking for new people to come onto the School Advisory Council and the FSG. Would you like to volunteer some time to our school? Are you interested in being on the School Advisory Council (SAC) or becoming a member of the FSG fundraising committee? If so, please email either myself or our new chairperson Eliza Liddy at arichards@smmspotswood.catholic.edu.au or eliza@workpointsplay.com for more information.
Regards,
Andrea Richards

We are very proud of the way all of the students represented our school on the day. We wish Chloe, Milla, Noah, Harri and Karli all the best at the Division Cross Country finals on the 1st of June.

Athletics Day
It was fantastic to be able to bring back the annual Athletics Day yesterday after a two year pause. The weather held out and students were able to show their stuff on the track. A big thank you to parents who came along to support, students from Bayside SC, and our very own Kristine Messig for organising this huge event. Stay tuned for a sports report coming soon.
Election BBQ and Cake Stall
Come on down this Saturday 21st of May to vote at the SMM hall and while you’re there, grab a sausage and some baked goods. Stalls will operate from 9.30 until all sold out. Hope to see you there.
Footy Tipping
There’s been a change in the guard this week and the field is spreading out a bit. Disey had a ripper of a round in week 8, tipping 8 correct. This has put him or her at the top of the ladder and a clear 2 in front.
Yours truley stayed loyal to the dogs and paid the price, while Mrs Slatts had a brief stint at the top but has fallen just short of the lead.
Bunnings West Footscray has generously donated $200 in vouchers - Yes $200! This will be our outright 1st prize and is one we would all want to win. Even I was dreaming of how I would spend it but there’s a long way to go before that can happen.
2nd and 3rd prize are still being finalized but promise to be just as exciting.
Remember if you haven’t paid, deposit that $20 so we can keep these competitions going and raise money for our students and school.
